Description

Cesare Rossarol was an Italian destroyer having an accident in the waters near Ližnjan. Another two ships of the same type had been built up just before Italy entered into the 1st World War in 1915: Alessandro Poerio and Giuglielmo Pepe. Their purpose was to defend the ships from submarine attacks, as well as of smaller ships and individual aircrafts flying over Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea.
She set off for her last voyage on Saturday, 16.11.1918. After leaving the port of Pula the ship sailed to Rt Kamenjak. Changing the route she passed Rt Marlera and proceeded to Rijeka. A part of the crew maneuvering the ship was at their places and those who were not in service had been preparing themselves for lunch. Exactly at 12.45 the ship Cesare Rossarol was shattered by a violent explosion booming out in the room with dynamo electric-machine cutting the ship in two pieces. In two minutes the ship has for ever disappeared and sank to the depth of 50 meters taking down with her most of the crew.
