Description
The ship Lina left the port of Rijeka towards Sicily transporting wooden cargo of 720 tons weight, a part of which was stacked in the bow. Due to dense fog the ship sailed at minimum speed and hit the reef. A whack was so terrible that the water had immediately started to penetrate the ships inside filling the first and second tank at once. A part of the crew had surveyed rescue of its members, while a part of passengers was transported to Rijeka. On 18.02.1914 night the ship sank, fortunately with no victims. The ship lies inclined at the sea bottom parallel to the coast line. The wreck has been preserved and is in very good condition. You may clearly recognize how the cabins were disposed; see the rests in the deck, bridge and two masts. At the bottom of the ship gaps giving evidence of terrible stranding of the ship may be seen.
