Description

Borna

The ship Flamingo was an Austrian torpedo-boat built up on 29.08.1889, armed with two bow torpedoes and attended by 14 crew members. Just before World War I, more precisely on 23.08.1914 the boat came across a mine cutting the ship in two. The Master Krieg succeeded in sending a light signal for urgent help and put a lifeboat into the sea. Due to strong north-eastern wind and high waves the lifeboat was soon destroyed and the crew had to fight the wild sea and storm. Few hours later torpedo boats came to their rescue and saved the Master and 6 crew members, while the remaining 11 members got drowned. The bow is completely preserved with a torpedo, while from the stern part there remained a driving shaft with propeller only.

There is usually a good visibility so you can see a lot of crabs and shoals of various fish and enjoy as well in the variety of flora covering the wreck all around.

Note

Because of great depth it is recommended to expert divers only. Attention should be paid to sea storms sometimes being very strong and to rests of fishing nets.
